Pastor Nancy Renfro, 53 of Wayland, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington following a sudden illness.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 20, 2006 at the Wayland Mennonite Church in Wayland with Pastor W. Michael Biklen of the Santa Fe United Methodist in Ft. Madison officiating. Following the service her body will be cremated and interred at a later date. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Friday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 in the evening. Memorial may be designated to the New Life Parish.
Nancy was born August 24, 1952 in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of Kenneth F. and Mabel (Davidson) Canarr. She was united in marriage to Jimmy Renfro June 29, 1984 in Muscatine. She graduated from Muscatine High School, St. Petersburg College of Nursing, Iowa Wesleyan College and received her Master of Divinity from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.
Nancy was Pastor at the Wesley United Methodist in Muscatine, Peace United Methodist Church in Wilton and the last two years at the United Methodist New Life Parish in Wayland, Cottonwood and the Finley Church. She was a member of the Wayland Lions Club, WACO Ministerial Association and the Henry County Ministerial Association. She enjoyed crafts, stamping cards, crocheting, reading and was a life long learner.
Survivors include her husband Jimmy of Wayland, son Lance Bennett of Portland, OR, step-son Stephen Renfro and step-daughter Julie Berry, both of Muscatine; brothers Lester Canarr of Muscatine and Fred Canarr of Channelview, TX; two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother John and a sister Janet Shetler.
