Opal Aline Miller, 83 of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa died Saturday, May 10, 2003 at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center.
A Memorial Service will be held 7:00 P.M. Monday, May 12, 2003 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Robert Hary officiating. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the Memorial Service at the Funeral Home. Private family burial will be at a later date at the Lockridge Cemetery. A general memorial in the name of Opal A. Miller has been established.
Opal was born February 16, 1920 in Larrabee, Iowa the daughter of Edward Thomas and Myra (Smith)St. John. On August 11, 1942 she was united in marriage to Ralph Stephen Miller in Lincoln, NE. He preceded her in death March 9, 1997.
She graduated from Larrabee High School in 1935 and served in the WAC (Woman’s Army Auxiliary Corps) as a radio-teletype operator in 1942. She worked in the nursing care field and raised her family.
Survivors include, three sons, Stephen Miller and wife Diane of Hillsboro, IA, Paul Miller and wife Barb of Mt. Union, IA and Peter J. Miller of Hamilton, AL, two daughters, Margaret Rinehart and husband Dick of Walton, KY and Jane Fuller and husband Ronald of Salem, one sister Eva Nelson of Quimby, IA, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers Dwight, Ronald and Prentiss.
