Olive Ellen McDowell, 102 of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, April 15, 2005 at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant, following declining health.
Graveside services have been set for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will begin at Noon Monday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the family receiving friends from 6-8:00 in the evening. Memorials in the name of Olive McDowell may be designated to the Open Bible Church.
Olive was born August 31, 1902 in Henry Co, Iowa the daughter of Alexander and Nona (Pierce) Willey. She was united in marriage to the Rev. Irvin W. McDowell on August 31, 1930.
She was a member of the Open Bible Church and served along side her husband at the Four Square Gospel Church. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. After her husband untimely death on November 16, 1953, she worked several jobs. She enjoyed spending time with family and attending church. She was an avid gardener and a wonderful cook. Her family remembers special times with her in the raspberry and flower gardens and baking cookies and other tasty treats. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include children James McDowell and wife Carole of West Burlington, IA, Evelyn Conner and husband William of Hillsboro, IA; sister Elizabeth Wellington of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Cecil Walters and Allie Sizemore, brother Adgiton and daughter Rachel Blakely.
