Kalona

Savilla Odena “Dini” Miller, 94, of Kalona, passed from this life on Monday, June 24, 2024, at her nephew’s home in rural Kalona. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the Fairview Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. The service will be available via Livestream on the Beatty Peterseim website, Facebook, and YouTube pages. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 4 – 8 PM at the Fairview Mennonite Church. A memorial fund has been established for the Fairview Mennonite Church. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

 

Odena was born December 9, 1929, in rural Johnson County, the daughter of Chris Henry and Annie (Hochstedler) Miller. Odena attended East Lincoln rural school. She was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church and the KNF group. Odena enjoyed farming, gardening, and helping care for her nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

 

Survivors include her sister-in-law Alta Miller of Kalona, three nephews: Lowell (Dorothy) Miller of Wellman, Merlin Miller of Kalona, Keith (Jannea) Miller of Kalona, and seven great nieces and nephews: Kali, Hunter, and Lexi Miller, and Chase, Nolan, Helen and Zackery Miller.

 

Preceding Odena in death were her parents, her brother Elmer Gee Miller, and her great-niece Abby Miller.
