Nova Wesley Harper Jr. 72 of Washington, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, following a short illness.
Funeral Services have been set for 2:00 PM Monday, February 25, 2008 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Jim Cluney officiating. Cremation will follow the Services. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Monday at the Funeral Home with family receiving friends two hours prior to the Service. A general memorial in the name of Nova Harper Jr. has been established at the Funeral Home.
Nova was born February 15, 1936 in Fairfield, Iowa the son of Nova Edward and Ethel (Hines) Harper. He was united in marriage to Sheila Rae Bruders on March 25, 1972 in Memphis, Mo.
Nova was employed at Perfex for three years and later painted and wallpapered. He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Sheila of Washington; son Wesley M. Harper of Tipton, IA; daughters Sandra Bents of Davenport, IA, Ethel Rose Frieberg and husband Larry of Bettendorf, IA and Pamula Buck and husband Tom of Andover, IA; sisters Janice Nelson of Bettendorf, IA, Janit Waage and husband David of Davenport, Jane Luedtke of Davenport, Helen Pinkerton and husband Richard of St. Louis, MO and Judy Mellott of Fairfield, IA; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Chris, brothers Hubert, Lester, Wetsal, Lawrence and James, sisters Mildred Hitchlock, Bessie Angstead and Velma Roush.
