Norma Ladwig

Norma E. Ladwig, 91 of Washington died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Following services her body will be donated to the University of Iowa Anatomy Department. Burial will be at a later date in Cambria Wisconsin. Family visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday. Memorials in the name of Norma E. Ladwig may be designated to the Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church, Gideon’s International or Hospice of Washington County.

Norma was born July 3, 1917 in Madison, WI the daughter of Howard Franklin Winkie and Laura May Ernsperger Winkie. She graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee and was united in marriage to Olin Albert Ladwig, Jr. June 10, 1939 in Milwaukee.

They lived and raised four sons in Milwaukee, Wauwatosa and La Crosse, WI. When Olan retired, they traveled for three years and settled in Forsyth, MO for eight years before moving to Washington in 1984.

Norma was a member of the Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church. She enjoyed flower arranging and gardening, water color painting, and adding to her 50 miles of swimming at the YWCA-YMCA.

Survivors include her sons, Laurence Ladwig and wife Judy of Knoxville, IA, Thomas Ladwig and wife Mary of Galesville, WI, Olin Ladwig III and wife Sue of Capron, IL and Peter Ladwig and wife Barbara of Arbor Vitae, WI; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Olin September 17, 2006.
