Services: Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009 11:00 AM United Christian and Baptist Church, Kalona Visitation: Monday, Nov,23, 2009 3:00-7:30 PM at Peterseim Funeral Home, Kalona Memorials-Kalona Historical Society or Iowa City Hospice Norma Sleichter Fry was born May 3, 1927 near Riverside, Iowa. She was the daughter of Ralph and Erma Flynn Sleichter. Norma graduated from Kalona High School and later was employed at Pleasantview Home as a nurse's aid for 17 years. Norma and Earl Fry were married on June 7, 1949 in Kalona. Norma was a member of the United Christian Baptist Church where she was very active in the Women's Society and all activities of the church. She was as activity in the Kalona Historical Society where she served as a tour guide for many years. Additional memberships were Kalona Idris Club and the ABC Card Club. Norma was well known for her culinary skills which included outstanding candies. Quilting was another hobby she enjoyed. Norma is survived by her husband, Earl Fry of Kalona, two sons, Bryan and wife Pam Fry of Urbana and David Fry of North Liberty. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Jason and wife Kathleen Fry, Jeremy and wife Jamie Fry and Lindsey and husband Travis Wendlilng, four great grandchildren Katelyn Fry, Kirstin Fry, Jacob Fry and Colin Wendling, two sisters, Edith and husband Phil Morehead of Marion and Dora Kallaus of Kalona. Preceding Norma in death were her parents, four brothers, Vern, Carroll, Daniel and Richard Sleichter and one sister Dorotha Chapek. Norma's family is deeply grateful for the many kindnesses shown them during Norma's sudden illness and at this time of their loss. God Bless each of you.
