A celebration of life for Naomi R. Tyer 74, of Washington will be held Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 10:30AM at the 1st Baptist Church in Washington with Pastor Darryl Carr officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 15 from noon until 7PM with the family present from 5-7PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A memorial fund has been established for Breast Cancer Research Foundation or a General Memorial. Naomi Tyer died Monday, December 13, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a battle with breast cancer.
Naomi Ruth (Seiders) Tyer was born March 13, 1936 in Minburn, Iowa the daughter of Sam and Angie (Harrison) Seiders. She graduated from Perry High School in 1954. On February 25, 1955 she was united in marriage to Jerry A. Tyer at the 1st Christian Church in Perry, Iowa. She worked at Montgomery Ward’s and McCleery-Cumming in Washington and sold Avon and Tupperware. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Washington, the Red Hat Society, and a past member of Beta Sigma Pi. Naomi enjoyed playing cards in card club, playing the piano, having coffee with friends, decorating for the holidays, entertaining in her home, making crafts, shopping, scrap-booking, and traveling.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah and husband Stan Murray of Washington, Patrisha Tyer of Washington, two sons, Jeffrey “Jeff” Tyer and significant other, Barbara Flanegan, Ted and wife Donna Tyer of Mesa, AZ, three grandchildren, Jonathan and Melissa Murray and Jerry Rosenbaum, and one brother, Norman and wife Donna Seiders of Moberly, MO.
Preceding Naomi in death were her parents Sam and Angie Seiders, husband Jerry on November 21, 2002, two half sisters, Irene Moore and Fern Opperman and one infant grandson, Jacob Rosenbaum.
