Burial: Wellman Mennonite Cemetery, Wellman, Iowa Memorial for Wellman Mennonite Cemetery. Myrtle Violet Guengerich was born November 1, 1910 in Chester Township, Michigan. Her parents were George and Minnie Lamb Tompkins. She was raised by foster parents, Miltonand Fannie Zook. Myrtle graduated from Hesston High School, Hesston, KS. Myrtle and Earl Guengerich were married in Hesston Kansas, September 12, 1937. The couple moved to the Wellman area in August of 1940. The farmed near West Chester from the spring of 1944 until retiring and moving to Kalona in 1974. Myrtle moved to Pleasantview Home in January of 1999. Myrtle did private housekeeping in Iowa City for 20 years. She had been a member of the Wellman Mennonite Church since 1940. She also belonged to athe West Chester Merry Mixer Club for over 50 years. Myrtle is survived by six children and spouses: LaWayne & Doneta (Yoder) Guengerich of Granbury, Tx, Wilson and Karen Guengerich of Washington, IA, Calvin & Angela (Holeman) Guengerich of Amarillo, TX, Judith and Keith Yoder of Iowa City, Iowa, Lily and Lyle Miller of Iowa City, IA, and Marilyn Guengerich-Sykes and Mark, of Tucson, AZ. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. Preceding Myrtle in death were her husband Earl (June 18, 1989) an infant granddaughter and her only sister Lillie Coder. Myrtle's family expresses their deepest appreciation for all the love, prayers and other acts of sympathy extended them during this time of loss.
