Myrl Goodspeed Fairbrother Jr passed away peacefully Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Parkview Manor in Wellman Iowa.
A Memorial service with military honors will be held at Camp Ripley Minnesota.
Myrl was born February 10, 1932 in Grand Rapids Michigan, the son of Mryl and Nellie (Johnson) Fairbrother.
He enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served in the Korea and Vietnam wars.
He married Enid Hale on July 11, 1951 in Las Vegas Nevada. He made the Marine Corp his career, retiring after
serving 20 years. He traveled from coast to coast during his time in the Marine Corp. He moved to Iowa for a short time,
then bought a farm in Minnesota. He raised chickens for Jack Frost for 20+ years. Myrl enjoyed rebuilding planes and
old vehicles. After Enid's death in 2003 he sold the farm and move to Arizona. He spend many warm winters enjoying
Arizona. In August of last year he moved to Minnesota to be closer to family.
Myrl is survived by his brothers, Larry of Florida and Jeff of Texas; son Steve (Sara Norling) Fairbrother of Little
Falls, Mn; daughters Carolyn Fairbrother of Sauk Rapids, Mn; Judy (Lee) Miller of Kalona, Ia and Jackie Fairbrother of
Kalona Ia; Three granddaughters, Jodie (Greg) Mesa of Monument Co, Jennie (Andrew)Shalla of North Liberty Ia and Shelby
Fairbrother of Little Falls Mn. He has 7 great grandchildren.
Myrl was preceded in death by his wife Enid, his parents, and his sister Phyllis Lucchesi.
Memorials may be directed to the family, Washington County Hospice, Kalona First Responders or to a charity
of your choice.
Burial will take place at a later date in Minnesota.
