A celebration of life for Mildred I. Patterson, 105, will be Friday, December 29 at 10:30 AM at the Kalona United Methodist Church, Kalona. Pastor Gerry Kahler will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sharon Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 28 from 4:00 PM till 7:00 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home, Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Ronald McDonald House or St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Jacksonville, FL.
Mildred Irene Patterson was born August 15, 1912 ,in Roanauke, IL, the daughter of Jacob and Jacobeana (Yotty) Speas. She attended rural schools in Washington County, Iowa.
On October 1, 1940, she was united in marriage to Linus Patterson in Kalona.
The couple lived east of Richmond and raised their family there.
Mildred had many interests: quilting, sewing, playing cards, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren were always happy to spend time at Grandma’s because they knew it was going to be a special play time, animals and great food. After Linus’ death in 1989 she moved to Kalona.
She was a member of the Kalona United Methodist Women and attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, FL.
Survivors are her three children: Jim Patterson (Sue) of Cedar Rapids, Margi Teets (David) of Kalona and Alice Patterson Bayne of Jacksonville, Fl.
Also surviving are Carol Teets-Miles(Rob)of Atlanta, Jodi Teets Peer(Dennis) of North Liberty, Tanya(Tani) Teets Downs( Tony) of Katy, TX, Melissa Patterson Haars(Chris) of Cedar Rapids, Matt Patterson(Blair) of Ankeny, Adrienne San Feliz, Colorado, Jennifer Parker, Portland, OR, Johanna Murphy (Scott), Tampa, Fl., Mark Bayne, Jacksonville, FL, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Linus, and grandson, Michael Teets.
