A celebration of life for Mildred E. "Millie" Palmer 77, of Washington will be held Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 10:30AM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Fred Bickhart officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held from noon until 6PM on Wednesday, January 25 at the Beatty Funeral Home, where the family will greet friends from 4-6PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Sonshine Medical Assistance Program at the First Christian Church of Washington. Millie Palmer died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Halcyon House in Washington.
Mildred Elaine (Bower) Palmer was born September 15, 1934 in Brighton, Iowa the daughter of Pete and Jessie (Bower) Groff. She graduated from Washington High School in 1953 and was united in marriage to Walter Palmer in 1955. Millie worked as a waitress at Dino's Restruant for a number of years and as a sales clerk at Goodwill Industries for 15 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington where she was a loyal and active supporter of many church activities. She was a regular at the Washington morning coffee club and always enjoyed visiting and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda (Tom) Craven of Lewisville, Texas, Bonnie Peiffer of Phoenix, Arizona, Janet (Rich) Riggan of Washington, Iowa, five grandchildren, Chad, Cory and Colin Peiffer and Erica and Austin Riggan.
Preceding Millie in death were her parents and her husband Walter in 1990.
