Max Graber, 80 of Wayland, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Parkview Home in Wayland.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church in rural Wayland with Chaplain Dennis Maloney officiating. Interment will follow at the Fern Cliff Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fern Cliff Church, Saturday, May 23 from 5 to 8PM with the family present from 6-8PM. Beatty Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements. A memorial fund has been established for Fern Cliff Church or Parkview Home.
Max Dean Graber was born September 4, 1928 in Wayland, the son of Daniel S. and Anna (Widmer) Graber. He attended Eicher country school, graduated from Wayland High school in 1946, and attended Bethel & Bluffington Colleges. Max was united in marriage to Phyllis Ann Davison on August 6, 1950.
Max enjoyed life on the family farm, fishing, family activities, church activities, spending several winters in Florida, and trips to Thailand and Indonesia to visit his brother, Glen Graber, a missionary. He was a charter member of Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church, and served as deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher and AWANA Leader.
Max is survived by his wife, Phyllis Graber of Wayland, two sons, Dudley Graber of Wayland, Burdean and wife Christine Graber of Wayland, daughter Maxine and husband Gary Pribanich of Germantown, WI, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and brother Glen Graber of Goshen, IN.
Preceding him in death are his parents, son Richard Graber, brother Wilbert Graber, and sister Bessie McMickle.
