Mary Miller

Funeral services for Mary M. Miller, 83, of rural Riverside, will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021, at 9:30 AM, the Clayton Borntrager home, 2440 105th Street, Kalona. Burial will follow at the South Gingerich Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 28, from 1 – 8 PM at the Merlyn Miller residence, 1104 Palm Avenue, Riverside. Visitation will continue at the Merlyn Miller home from 10 – noon on Friday, January 29. Visitation will then move to the Clayton Borntrager home Friday, from 2 – 8 PM. The Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mary M. (Ropp) Miller was born January 4, 1938, in Riverside, Iowa, the daughter of Joe and Mary (Yoder) Ropp. Mary passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, January 27, 2021, surrounded by her family, following a short illness of pancreatic cancer. She accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church and remained faithful until her death. She was united in marriage to Chester H. Miller on January 12, 1956, who preceded her in death on May 25, 2020.

Mary is survived by three sons and six daughters: LullaBelle at home, Henry (Ila) Miller, Charles (Ellen) Miller of Kalona, Marilyn (Glen) Miller of Reed City, Michigan, Merlyn (Myrna) Miller of Riverside, Gladys (Loren) Borntrager, Wanda (John Dale) Gingerich of Kalona, Joyce (Solomon) Hershberger of Riverside, Shirley Miller of Kalona, 39 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Rachel (Lester) Hochstedler, Clara Troyer, two sisters-in-law: Sylvia Ropp and Katie Ropp and one brother-in-law Owen Farmwald.

Preceding Mary in death were her parents, two brothers: Elmer and Emery Ropp, two sisters: Lydia Ropp and Vesta (Miller) Farmwald, two great-grandchildren, and two brothers-in-law, Ura Miller and Atlee Troyer.

The family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness and support shown to them at this time of loss. Your love and compassion will be remembered always.
