Mary Alice McDowell, 50 of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, August 15, 2004 at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.
Funeral Services have been set for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Burial will be at the Oakland Mills Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Tuesday the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 P.M. A memorial in the name of Mary Alice McDowell has been established to the Oakland Mills Cemetery.
Mary was born May 10, 1854 in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Iliff Sulvester and Ruby Lavena (Harrison) Mills. She was united in marriage to Mark McDowell January 31, 1976 in Des Moines, they later divorced.
Mary graduated from Fairfield High School and IBM Business College. She was employed as a legal secretary in Des Moines, Chicago, Mississippi and several other communities. She returned to Mt. Pleasant in 2000. Mary was active in the Bahóa’ói faith.
Survivors include sister Sharon Rhum and husband Kenneth of Mt. Pleasant and brother Edwin Leroy Mills of Deming, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Warren.
