Mary Baldrige Klemm, 84 of Washington, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Halcyon House following declining health.
Funeral Services have been set for 11:00 AM Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Beatty Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Troy Richmond officiating. Following services her body will be donated to the Deeded Body Program at the University of Iowa. Open visitation will be from Noon to 5:00 PM Friday with the family receiving friends two hours prior to the service Saturday morning at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Public Library or the St. James School.
Mary was born May 13, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of Alfred Edwin and Charlotte Jane (Flemming) Baldrige. She graduated from Washington High School and Stanford University. She was united in marriage to John E. Blakeney, August 16, 1948 and later married Merton W. Klemm on May 9, 1975.
She was a member of the St. James Catholic Church. She was employed at the University of Iowa in the office of Public Information. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, fishing, camping and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons John Blakeney and wife Shelley and Jim Blakeney, both of Washington; four grandchildren, Kyle Blakeney, Aaron Trier, Stephanie Burmeister and James Blakeney; three great-grandchildren, Bryce, Colton and Wyatt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, brother John Baldrige and sister Jane Krone.
