Marvin Leon Gier, 64, of Washington, died Thursday evening, January 12, 2005 at the McCreedy Home following a lengthy illness.
A memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 15, 2006 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Grant Nebel officiating. His body has been cremated and there will be no formal viewing or visitation. Memorials may be designated to Hospice of Washington Co.
Mr. Gier was born February 9, 1941 in Brighton, Iowa the son of George Robert and Opal (Hastings) Gier. He graduated from West Chester High School in 1960 and was united in marriage to Jeannie C. Roethel September 21, 1964 at the West Chester Methodist Church.
He lived in West Chester in the early 60’s and later moved to the Havre area in 1967. He was employed with Coppock quarry for 37 years. He enjoyed his family and pets.
Survivors include his wife Jeannie of Washington, four sons, Rick (Karen) Gier of Washington, Robert (Jill) Gier of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Jeff Gier of Washington and Shane (Patty) Gier of Brighton, IA; daughters Shannon (Jeffrey) Ridenour of Trenton, IA and Buffie Gier of Washington; two sisters, Roberta “Pinky” Lynn of West Chester and Hazel Craig of Washington; eleven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Junior and sister Phyliss.
