A Celebration of Life for Marla J. Yoder, 61, of Kalona, will be held Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 10:30 AM at Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church in rural Kalona with Pastor Don Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Lower Deer Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 2 – 7 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, with family present from 2 – 5 PM. Marla Yoder died Saturday, August 1, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospital. A memorial fund in Marla’s name has been established at Hills Bank Kalona. Social distancing guidelines will be in place.
Marla Jean Yoder was born September 20, 1958 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Marion “Tex” and Doris (Reber) Yoder. She attended Washington Township Elementary, Mid-Prairie Jr. High and graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1977. Marla worked at Country Lane Eggs, Kalonial Townhouse, Washington County Hospital Dietary Department, the Kalona Bakery and transported Amish. She was a member of Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church and the Mennonite Historical Society. Marla enjoyed puzzles and attending WMSC.
Survivors include four siblings: Mary Yoder of Divide, CO, June Yoder of Newton, KS, Julie Yoder of Kalona and Morgan (De) Yoder of Kalona, a number of cousins, and special friend Vernon Fountain.
Preceding Marla in death were her parents.
