Marjorie Hammond

A celebration of life for Marjorie A. Hammond 78, of Washington, will be held Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 11:00AM the Faith Baptist Church in Washington with Pastor Harold Gruber officiating. The family will greet friends from 10AM until service time at the church. A meal will be served at the church following the service. Marge Hammond died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the McCreedy Home in Washington following a brief battle with cancer. A memorial fund has been established for the Faith Baptist Church.

Marjorie Ann (Heggen) Hammond was born February 26, 1933 in Estherville, Iowa the daughter of Lewis C. and Elizabeth (Jensen) Heggen. She graduated from Estherville High School. On June 1, 1956 she was united in marriage to Burge Hammond in Estherville. Marge worked in childcare, cleaning and was employed at the Estherville State Bank. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Washington and had previously been a member at the United Methodist Church in Washington. Marge enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling with her family, spending time with her friends, and socializing at Hy-Vee.
Survivors include two children and spouses, Burge (Beth) Hammond of Washington, Joni (Chuck) Haldeman of Crystal Lake, IL, six grandchildren, Breann, Britni, Brooke, and Braden Hammond, Hannah and Hailee Haldeman, and two sisters in law, Ruth Heggen of Hot Springs Village, AR, and Carol Heggen of New Port Richey, FL.

Preceding Marge in death were her parents, husband Burge, and two brothers, Norman and Robert Heggen.
