A celebration of life for Marilyn J. Miller Yoder, 77, of Kalona, formerly of Wellman, will be held Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11:00 am at the West Union Mennonite Church with Pastors Firman Gingerich and Martha Yoder officiating. Burial will be held prior to the service at 9:30 am at Upper Deer Creek Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 4 – 7 pm at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for the Pleasantview Home Building Fund. Marilyn Miller Yoder died Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona, where she had been a resident for two and a half years.
Marilyn Joyce Miller Yoder was born May 25, 1939 in Manson, Iowa, the daughter of Orval and Marjorie (Pletcher) Miller. She graduated from Conneaut Lake High School, Pennsylvania, and attended Scott Community College. On August 21, 1961 she was united in marriage to John Arthur Yoder at the Sunnyside Mennonite Church in Conneaut Lake, PA. Marilyn was a homemaker, a licensed practical nurse and a cattle farmer. She worked at the Pleasantview Home for several years. Marilyn was a member of the West Union Mennonite Church and formerly a member of the 1st Christian Church in Muscatine, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was an elder. She enjoyed life on the farm, including her pets and flowers, and she also enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include her husband John Arthur of Wellman, son James (Deb) Yoder of Madison, WI., daughter Suzanne (Nathan) Lange of Petaluma, CA., acquired daugther Carolyn (Herb) Weiss of Kalona, two grandchildren: Zach (Mary) Weiss and Lauryn Weiss both of Kalona, one brother Edward (Marlene) Miller of Meadville, PA., and two sisters: Nellie Steider of Conneaut Lake, PA., and Juanita (Clair) Marner of Shipshewana, IN.
Preceding Marilyn in death were her parents, her brother Durward and wife Nova Jean Miller, sister-in-law Louise Miller and brother-in-law Robert Steider. pending at the Peterseim Funeral Home.
