Marie W. (Jones) Yoder, 91 of Washington, died Thursday, November 02, 2006 at the Mc Creedy Home in Washington following declining health.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 AM Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington with Pastor Linda Foor officiating. Burial will be in the Keota Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Friday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 PM. A general memorial in the name of Marie Yoder has been established.
Marie was born September 4, 1915 near West Chester, IA the daughter of Noah Everett and Martha (Baker) West. She attended school in West Chester until her last two years where she attended Washington and graduated. Marie was united in marriage to Kermit Jones October 8, 1936. She later married Delmar “Bill” Yoder September 18, 1971.
She was a member of the Washington Christian Church, past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge and member of the Eastern Star for fifty years. Marie taught for a short time at country school, worked as a bookkeeper owned and operated a café in Wayland. She taught Sunday school in both Washington and Keota and volunteered at the Washington County Hospital. She lived in Keota for many years moving to Washington in 1988.
Survivors include her husband Delmar “Bill” of Washington; children Karl Jones of Flippin, AR, Everett Jones and wife Paulette of Bettendorf, IA and Ray Jones and wife Ruth of Washington, stepchildren Donna Williams and husband Jim of Cedar Rapids, Linda Wheatley and husband Dan of Iowa City, Peg Smith and husband Bruce of Washington, Roxanne Tang and husband Ray of Iowa City and step-daughter in law, Susan Yoder Edwards and husband Jim E. of North Dakota; sisters, Opal Bowen of Wayland and Bonnie Kempf of Prescott, AZ and twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, eight step grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Kermit, son Richard, step son Larry Yoder, twin sisters in infancy and brother Rex.
