Marcella Humphreys

Marcella (Marcy) Marie Humphreys, 78, formerly of Iowa City, died Thursday, June 18 at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington, Iowa following a lengthy illness. Funeral services have been set for 2PM Monday, June 22, 2009 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. In lieu of a visitation family will receive friends following the service. It was Marcella's wish that her body be used for research for the benefit of others, therefore, there will not be a burial at this time but is anticipated to be at Eicher Cemetery in the future. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County.

Marcy was born in Washington County on March 1, 1931, the daughter of Homer and Marie Wenger. She attended nursing school in Burlington and the University of Iowa and worked many years for the University Family Practice. She is survived by her brother, Frank Wenger, of Washington and her niece Sherry (and husband Harold) Dawson of Mount Pleasant, Iowa and a great nephew, Luke Dawson, and great niece, Kate Dawson, also of Mount Pleasant.
