Funeral services for Magdalene Hochstedler, 78, of rural Kalona will be held Friday, December 19, 2014 at 9:30AM at the Paul Hochstedler residence, 5679 Highway 1, Kalona, with Elmer T. Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the North Gingerich Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 17 from 3 – 8PM and all day and evening, Thursday, December 18 at the Paul Hochstedler home. Magdalene Hochstedler died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at her home of Hypertensive Heart Disease.
Magdalene Hochstedler was born July 25, 1936 in Kalona, the daughter of Sylvan and Ollie (Gingerich) Hochstedler. In her youth she accepted Christ and was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church and remained a faithful member until her death. In her childhood she had polio which affected her at times. She liked to piece fabric for quilts and quilt them.
Survivors include five sisters and two brothers: Vera (David) Gingerich of Kalona, Barbara (Dan W.) Miller of Kalona and Sarasota, FL, Ida (Elmer) Helmuth, Lloyd (Miriam) Hochstedler, Paul (Emma) Hochstedler, Judith (Dennis) Yoder and Elizabeth (Christian) Schlabach all of Kalona, 44 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Preceding Magdalene in death were her parents, an infant brother, one niece and one nephew.
