Lyle L. Shelangoski, 83 of Wayland, died Friday morning, May 26, 2006 at the Henry County Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with Pastor Jeffrey McPheron officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Greenmound Cemetery west of Trenton. Visitation will begin at Noon Monday at the Funeral home with family present from 5-7:00 in the evening. Memorials in the name of Lyle Shelangoski may be designated to the Trenton United Methodist Church.
Lyle was born July 21, 1922 in Brighton, Iowa the son of Stephen and Velma Gladys (Hinkle) Shelangoski. He was united in marriage to Marjorie E. Roth on December 6, 1947 in Fairfield, Iowa. She preceded him in death February 12, 2002.
He served during WW II with the 99th Field Artillery and retired from the Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown. He was a fifty year member of the American Legion. Lyle was in the Trenton area for most of his life moving to Wayland following the death of his wife. He enjoyed play cards with his friends in Wayland.
Survivors include sister Lucille Garrells and husband Miles of New London and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant son and brother Harold.
