Burial: South Gingerich Cemetery, Kalona Lydia Bender Swantz was born in Exeland, WI, the daughter of Harvey and Anna Miller Bender. She was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church. On December 14, 1941 she was united in marriage to Lester Swantz in Kalona, Iowa. Survivors include four sons and spouses, John Harvey and wife Fannie Mae Swantz of Kalona, Henry Leroy and wife Mary Swantz of Kalona, Samuel Ray Swantz of Kalona, Amos Benjamin and wife Mattie Swantz of Sugar Creek, OH, seven grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, two sisters, Martha Stoddard and Elva Bender of Kalona, one brother John and wife Elizabeth Bender of Kalona. Preceding Lydia in death were her parents, he husband Lester in 1996, two sons, David Paul Swantz and Marion Joseph Swantz, one daughter, Ruth Lucille Swantz, one brother David H. Bender and one sister Mary Yoder. The family would like to extend their deep appreciation for the many acts of love and kindness shown to them at this time of sudden loss.
