Luella M. Yoder was born March 22, 1924 in rural Kalona, the daughter of Mose P. and Anna (Yoder) Yoder. She attended Snake Hollow and Prairie Dale rural schools. She had been employed for 27 years in the OB-GYN Department at the University of Iowa Hospital, for 20 years as a tour guide at the Mennonite Museum at the Kalona Historical Village and was the chairman of the Residents Advocates group at the Pleasantview Home for 10 years.

Luella was a life long member of the Upper Deer Creek Mennonite Church and was always involved in the sewing group in the church. Quilting, gardening and caring for flowers were her pastimes.

Her sister, Vera Yoder of Kalona and a brother and sister-in-law, Emil and Minerva Yoder of Glendale, AZ, and many nieces and nephews survive Luella.

Preceding Luella in death were her parents, sisters, Sylvia Brenneman and Mildred Yoder and brothers, Ray M. Yoder and Wesley Yoder.

A memorial fund, in lieu of flowers, in her honor has been established for the Upper Deer Creek Mennonite Church, Hospice of Washington County and the South Gingerich Cemetery Fund.
