Lucile Ada Hartman Meyer 89, of Washington, died Saturday morning January 3, 2004 at the Washington County Hospital.
Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with the Rev. Ron McMenamin and Rev. James Edwards officiating. Burial will be at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Monday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 P.M. A memorial in the name of Lucile Meyer has been established.
Lucile was born Jul y 10, 1914 in Louisa County, Iowa the daughter of Porter Augusta and Mary (Faber) Hartman. She was united in marriage to Ernest Clyde Meyer on February 28, 1937 at the Cotter Presbyterian Church.
She was a faithful member of the United Presbyterian Church in Washington and was active with the White Way women’s club, Cotter Guild, Crawfordsville Rural Homemakers and several R-V Clubs. Lucile worked at the McCleery Calendar factory and following marriage joined her husband helping on the farm and raising the family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, camping, reading and being with the family.
Survivors include her husband Earnest of Washington; son Ronald Meyer and wife Rebecca of Solon, IA; three daughters, Patricia Johnson and husband Robert of Washington, Shelby Morrison and husband Lee of North Liberty, IA and Erna Reid and husband Richard of Columbus Junction, IA; sister Lola Reed of Washington; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, LuVerne Stout, Leona McGill and Lillian Gerdts.
