Lucille H. Ross, 92 of Washington, died Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington following a short illness.
Funeral Services have been set for 2:00 PM Monday, August 18, 2008 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Fred Bickhart officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 3-5:00 PM in the afternoon. A general memorial in the name of Lucille H. Ross has been established.
Lucille was born October 30, 1915 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Howard and Mable (Hotle) Baker. She was schooled at Havre School and united in marriage to Ted M. Ross from Winfield at Kahoka, MO on February 25, 1939. They began their married life in Swedesburg. She helped Ted in the Red Ball Garage and following the birth of their two children moved to Marengo for five years returning to Washington in 1952.
Lucille worked as cook at Lincoln School and the Hy-Vee Meat Department for eleven years. She enjoyed dancing, craftwork, humming birds and especially visits from her family.
Survived by one daughter Jeanette Fisher and husband Jerry of Washington; three grandchildren Jay M. Fisher and wife Michele of Riverside, OH, James E. Ross and wife Tricia of Coralville and Sherry Denekas of Pella; six great-grandchildren Andrea and Kristen Smith, Devon Fisher, Hayley and Sam Ross and Audrey Denekas; two sisters Dorothy Black of Washington and Martha Brown and husband Kenneth of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters in laws Helen Baker of Washington and Helen Ross of Minnesota and brother in law Doyle Brown of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ted in 1972, son Ronald in 1996, brothers Lawrence “Bud” and Clark “Spark” sisters Helen Brown and Mary Schooley.
