A celebration of life for Lowell E. Stacy, 71 of Wayland will be held Friday, October 7, 2011 at 10:30AM at the Wayland Mennonite Church with Pastors Pam Unruh and Kelly Slagel officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 6-8PM at the Wayland Mennonite Church. Beatty Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
A memorial fund has been estalbished for the Wayland Mennonite Church. Lowell Stacy died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at his home following a battle with colon cancer. His body has been cremated.
Lowell Elwin Stacy was born October 21, 1939 in East Pleasant Plain, Iowa the son of Raymond and Edith (Montgomery) Stacy. He graduated from Brighton High School. Lowell was united in marriage to Patricia Erwin on August 9, 1959 in Kirksville, Missouri. He was a farmer and very active in his children and grandchildren's lives. Lowell was a member of the Wayland Mennonite Church, was an Eagle Scout, a scout leader, had served as a youth leader at the Christian Church in Fairfield for many years, was active in 4-H with his children and served on the Jefferson County Fair Board for 16 years. He enjoyed woodworking, deer hunting and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Pat of Wayland, five children and spouses, Greg (Kathy) Stacy of Wayland, Patty (Ed) Boone of Wayland, Garth (Vicki) Stacy of Fairfield, Gavin (Darla) Stacy of Brighton, Paula (Gary) Phipps of Eldridge, 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one brother, Lyle (Ruth Ann) Stacy and a sister, Jean Shafanek of Missouri.
Preceding Lowell in death were his parents.
