A celebration of life for Lorna Cox, 90 of Kalona will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 1:00PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona with Pastor Doug Cue officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Iowa City. Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until service time on Tuesday. A memorial fund for the Pleasantview Home and Iowa City Hospice has been established. Lorna Cox died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a decline in health.
Lorna (Eyman) Cox was born September 9, 1921 in Johnson County, the daughter of Curtis and Pauline (Hurst) Eyman. She graduated from City High School in Iowa City. Lorna was united in marriage to Gerald W. Cox on November 1, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. She worked in several shops in Kalona during the 60's and 70's. Lorna was a member of the Sharon Center United Methodist Church and enjoyed researching and collecting antiques, needlework, reading and traveling. A fond memory for Lorna was the cruise to England that she took to celebrate her 80 th birthday in 2001.
Survivors include four sons, Curtis (Wendy) Cox of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dale Cox of Meredith, New Hampshire, Jerry Cox of Midvale, Utah, Russell (Sue) Cox of Clinton, Iowa, three grandchildren, Clinton, Tony and Adam Cox, three great grandchildren, and one brother, Ray (Ruth) Eyman of Edwardsville, Illinois.
Preceding Lorna in death were her parents, her husband Gerald on July 1, 1996 and two brothers, Dale and Glen Eyman.
