Loren Paul Meade

Loren P. Meade, 85, of Oxford passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 1:00 PM at St. Peter Catholic Church in Cosgrove with Father Francis Mensah officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery.  Vistation will be held at St Peter Catholic Church on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 4 – 7 PM with a prayer vigil at 4:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice and St. Peter Catholic Church.  Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona is assisting with arrangements.

Loren Paul Meade was born March 14, 1938, the son of Cletus and Esther (Stanton) Meade. On October 18, 1961 he was united in marriage to Elaine Wagner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford. Loren farmed all his life and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He enjoyed farming, gardening, riding horses, raising livestock and watching westerns. His family was very important to him and loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and his friends.

Survivors include three children: Bryan Meade, Chris (Bill) Weldon, Renee (Kirk) Madden; eight grandchildren: David and Rachel Meade, Andrea, Joe and Alyssa Weldon, Kyle and Malana Madden and Macy (Zach) Dresser; four great grandchildren: Dylan, Dawson and Milo Dresser and Ellie Meade; three siblings: Donna Meade, Mary Sue (Amos) Miller, Richard (Sharon) Meade, sister-in-law Ginny Meade and the Wagner family.

Preceding Loren in death were his parents and his wife Elaine; and five siblings: Dorothy Meade, Barbara (Donnie) Sternad, Duane Meade, Laverne Meade and Gerald (Mary) Meade.

The family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses, and staff at UIHC Pulmonary/Internal Medicine and everyone at Iowa City Hospice for their excellent care and compassion while helping Loren.
