Lois Opal Miles, 81 of Washington, died Tuesday, May 25 2004 at her home following declining health.
Memorial services have been set for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 29, 2004 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Mark Young officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-5 on Friday with family receiving friends two hours prior the service on Saturday. Memorials in the name of Lois Miles may be designated to Hospice of Washington Co. or the family.
Lois was born June 29, 1922 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Elwood and Opal (Pratt) Glasgow. She was united in marriage to George Harold Miles on April 4, 1942.
She helped in raising the family and was employed at the Washington West Motel and the Captains Table. She was a member of the Washington United Methodist Church and the VFW Auxiliary. Lois enjoyed being outdoors, walking, puzzle books, gardening and spending time with family and friends at the cabin on the Iowa River.
Survivors include two sons, Gerry Miles and wife Betty of Wayland and Ron Miles and wife Cheryl of Champaign, IL; two daughters Vicki Bryan and husband Don of Moline, IL and Glenda Miles of Washington; brother Raymond Glasgow and wife Rosella of Cedar Rapids, IA; two sisters Joan Furgason of Washington and Phyllis Peterson of Tinley Park, IL; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Mary Cook and Darlene Wheaton and brother Lawrence Glasgow.
