Lizzie S (Mast) Yoder

Lizzie S. Yoder, 87 died Friday, January 31, 2025, at her home in rural Kalona, surrounded by her family.

Lizzie S. Yoder was born October 28, 1937, in Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Sam and Katie (Gingerich) Mast. Lizzie accepted Christ as her Savior in her youth and was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church. She remained faithful until her death. She was united in marriage to Melvin A. Yoder September 17, 1959, in Kalona, living in matrimony for 63 years. He preceded her in death January 8, 2023.

She is survived by her eight children, Loren (Lois) Yoder, Riverside, Loretta (Norman Jay) Miller, Kalona, Kathryn (Alvin) Beachy, Kalona, Karen (Milford) Miller, Monroe, WI, Kaylene (David) Kauffman, Kalona, Darla at home, David Lee (Nelda), Kalona, and Delmar (Karen) Yoder, Fremont, MI; fifty-four grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren; three brothers: Alvin (Dorothy) Mast, Fred (Mary Pearl) Mast, Mahlon (Ruth Anna) Mast, six sisters: Dorothy Mast, Magdalena (David) Bender, Clara (Elmer) Miller, Freda (Monroe) Miller, Esther Mast and Edna (Henry) Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin, infant twin daughters, four grandchildren, Nancy Arlene Yoder, Myron Lynn Miller, Heidi Kauffman, and Dwight Amos Yoder.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their visits, prayers, food, help and sympathy that has been gvien them. 

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 9:30 AM at the David Lee Yoder home at 2605 560th Street SW, Kalona, where visitation will begin Sunday and continue Monday. Burial will be held at the Peter Miller Cemetery, following the funeral. The Petereseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.
