Leah Bachman

Leah Eichelberger Bachman, 102 of Tiskilwa, IL. formally of Wayland, died Friday, December 03, 2004 at the Colonial Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Princeton, IL.

Funeral Services have been set for 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church south of Wayland with Pastor Nathan Luitjens officiating. Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Church with family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials in the name of Leah have been designated to Sugar Creek Mennonite Church and Willow Springs Mennonite Church. Beatty Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.


Leah Magdalene Graber was born January 13, 1902 in Wayland, Iowa the daughter of John and Josephine (Roth) Graber. Leah was united in marriage to Chris E. Eichelberger January 18, 1923 in Wayland. He preceded her in death June 27, 1948. She later married Edward Bachman May 22, 1968 in Tiskilwa, IL. He preceded her in death October 16, 1980.
Leah was raised in Wayland and was a member of Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, being baptized March 7, 1915 at the age of 13. In 1962 she moved to Tiskilwa where she became a member of Willow Springs Mennonite Church. Leah taught Sunday school and bible school. In Wayland she operated a bible book store from her home. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining and planting a large garden. Leah was a caring, generous supportive wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include son James Eichelberger and wife Peggy of Racine, WI; two daughters, Evelyn Albrecht and husband Weldon of Tiskilwa, IL. and Gratice Albrecht and husband Wilbur of Tiskilwa, IL.; sister Stella Boshart of Wayland and brother Alvin Graber of Newton, KS; seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.


She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, infant son Marvin Charles, four brothers, Peter, Albert, Amos and Wilbert and five sisters, Emma, Katie, Anna, Lavina and Evelyn.
