Lawrence Edward Schrepfer, 81 of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday October 3, 2003 at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral Services have been set for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Tom Palmer officiating. Military honors will follow the service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date at Winfield Scott Cemetery. Open visitation will be from Noon till 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. A general memorial in the name of Lawrence Edward Schrepfer has been established.

Lawrence was born October 7, 1922 in Hillsboro, Iowa the son of Ralph and Hazel (Pfeifer) Schrepfer. On October 7, 1942 he was united in marriage to Alberta Blakeley in Kahoka, Missouri.

Lawrence graduated from Salem High School in 1940 and served during WW II in the U.S. Navy where he was in the Pacific theater as a Seabee. Following the service he farmed and raised turkeys and later worked at construction and carpentry. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoying fishing, hunting, and was especially known for his skilled woodworking and the ability to fix antiques.

Survivors include his wife Alberta of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Gilbert Schrepfer and wife Marianne of Bonaparte, Iowa and Stanton Schrepfer and wife Ernestine of Ft. Madison, Iowa; one sister, Verda Krabill of Donnellson, Iowa, and special friend to the family, Jane (Swart) Drahovzal of Lone Tree, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, son, Larry, brother Warren “Bud” and sister Velda.
