Laverne Gardner

A celebration of life for Laverne H. Gardner, 84 of Iowa City, will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for Parkinson's Research. Laverne H. Gardner died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Iowa City Rehabilitation Center.

Laverne Helen (Klingler) Gardner was born January 21, 1929 in Bonaparte, Iowa the daughter of Carl and Hannah (Muhrer) Klingler. She graduated from Bonaparte High School. She worked as a secretary for many years. On December 23, 1967 she was united in marriage to Lester Gardner at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City. Laverne was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Donnelson. She enjoyed sewing, reading, bowling and visiting with people.

Survivors include her husband, Lester of Iowa City, one sister, Leora Evans of Peoria, Arizona, two sister in laws; Gladys Gardner and Mildred Kamper of Washington, one brother in law, Donald and wife Ruth Gardner of Washington, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceding Laverne in death were her parents and one brother, Eldred Klingler.
