A celebration of life for Lauren L. Chalupa, 91, of Washington will be held Monday, December 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. At the 1st Christian Church in Washington with Pastor Colton Clay officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 27 from 3 – 5 p.m. At the 1st Christian Church. A memorial fund has been established for the 1st Christian Church. Beatty-Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting with arrangments. Lauren Chalupa died Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Washington County Hospital.
Lauren LaVerne Chalupa was born August 8, 1924 in Richmond, Iowa, the son of Fred and Olive (Wallace) Chalupa. He graduated from Washington High School. On June 3, 1950 he was united in marriage to Leta Koch in Brighton, Iowa. Lauren worked as office manager and parts manager for McCormick Ford and Mincer Ford. He was a member of the 1st Christian Church. Lauren enjoyed growing flowers and restoring cars, especially his 1931 Model A Ford. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and cherished the time he spent with this family.
Survivors include his wife Leta of Washington, IA, two sons: Michael (Janet) Chalupa of Bremerton, WA, Stephen (Judi) Chalupa of Washington, IA, four grandchildren: Nate (Ann) Chalupa, Chad (Keitha) Chalupa, Hayley (Derrick) Blackmon, Myriah (David) Bonsall, six step grandchildren: Jennifer Walsh, Heather (Terry) Runge, Wendy (Wilson) Paiva, Stacey (Kelsey) Marshall, Mike Williams, Laura (Ken) San Nichols, 21 great grandchildren, four siblings: Ferd Chalupa, Jeanette Banks, Norma Loeffler, Wayne (Joanne) Chalupa, and a number of neices and nephews.
Preceding Lauren in death were his parents, two brothers: Junior and Bob Chalupa and one sister, Jane Hensel.
