Laurel Trogdon

Laurel L. "Lolly" Trogdon, 74, of Wayland died Monday, March 7, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospital from complications of COPD.  Her family will celebrate her life at a later date.  Beatty Funeral Home is helping the family with arrangements.  A general memorial fund has been established.

Laurel Lee (Edgington) Trogdon was born October 16, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Edwin and Theresa (Bougher) Edgington, she was raised by Charles and her step mother Mary Edgington.  Laurel was united in marriage to Edwin Cyril Trogdon and the couple later divorced.  She enjoyed cross stitch, crochet, baking, cooking, gardening and being outside.  She was a fun loving, cheerful person and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include three children: Michael Trogdon of Des Moines, Wanda Trogdon and fiance' Gary Evans of Wayland, Timothy Trogdon (Amy Brenzier) of Des Moines, three step children: Charles, Cathleen and Sherry Trogdon all of Des Moines, 18 grandchildren: Chelsea Candlisn Pondell, Devin, Dakota, Hunter and Braxton Trogdon,  Desiree, Miranda, Holly, Macie, Mallory Trogdon, Marsha Brenzier, Austin Gier, Chelsey Messer, Shelby Gier and Dustin Palmer and Chanelle and Cierra Evans, five great grandchildren: Sierra and Kylee Gier, Kai Palmer, Tessie Purscell and Addylyne Kline, one sister, Shirley Waddill of Des Moines, and three beloved step siblings: Patricia Shoning and Ronald and John Crouse all of Des Moines, and beloved nieces and nephews.

Preceding Laurel in death were her parents, a step son Edwin Cyril Trogdon, Jr., one brother, Robert Edgington, three sisters: Wanda Grylls, Barbara Wilson and Marjorie Sandelin and one half sister, Sandra Edgington.
