Larry W. Richard, 52 of Wayland died Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant as the result of injuries suffered from an auto accident.

Funeral Services have been set for 2:30 P.M. Saturday, October 11, 2003 at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church in Wayland with Rev. Robert Hartzler officiating. Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Friday at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church with family present from 5-8:00 P.M. A Memorial in the name of Larry Richard has been established to the Parkview Home in Wayland. Beatty Funeral Home of Wayland is assisting with the arrangements.

Larry was born May 7, 1951 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa the son of Oscar and Catherine (Yoder) Richard. He graduated from Waco High School in 1970 and was united in marriage to Mary Jo Manning on December 27, 1970 at the Pleasant View Mennonite Church by the Rev. Glen Richard.

He was a faithful member of Sugar Creek Mennonite Church and the Wayland Volunteer Fire Department for nineteen years. Larry was a former City Council Member and on the Christmas lighting committee. He owned and operated Richard Oil Co. along with his family.

Left to mourn is his mother Catherine of Wayland; wife Mary Jo of Wayland; three daughters, Amy Richard of Wayland, Denise Baldosier and husband Brian of Germanville, Iowa and Michelle Danker and husband John of Cantril, Iowa; two brothers, Daniel Richard and wife Pat of Brighton, Iowa and Dean Richard of Riverside, Iowa; six grandchildren, Micah, Emma, Leah, Oren, Katelyn and Danny.

He was preceded in death by his father.
