A celebration of life for L. Pauline Yoder, 77 of Kalona, formerly of Jackson, Kentucky, will be held Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 2:00PM at the Sunnyside Conservative Church in Kalona. Pastors John King and Phil Swartzentruber will officiate. Burial will follow at the East Union Mennonite Cemetery in rural Kalona. Visitation will be held Friday, August 24, from 6-8PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home and Saturday, August 25 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held at 7:30PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Turners Creek Mennonite Church and Iowa City Hospice. Pauline Yoder died Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona following a battle with cancer.
Leona Pauline Yoder was born March 22, 1935 in rural Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Clarissa (Hochstedler) Yoder. She attended East Lincoln rural school. She worked gathering and delivering eggs for many years in Kentucky, where she had lived for the past 51 years, until moving to Kalona in June of this year. She was a member of the Turners Creek Mennonite Church in Jackson, Kentucky, where she was very active in the Girl's Club and also helped with Bible school, youth group and participated in Bible studies. She enjoyed flowers, visiting and loved her Kentucky friends and families.
Survivors include her siblings, Velma Yoder of Kalona, Iowa, Willis and wife Wilma Yoder of Kalona, Alta Yoder and Susan Yoder of Kalona, a sister in law, Esther Yoder of Kalona, 12 nieces and nephews and a number of great nieces and nephews.
Preceding Pauline in death were her parents, a brother, Ernest Yoder, infant brother, Glen Dale Yoder and infant sister, Anna Marie Yoder and a sister, Iva Yoder who died in early childhood.
