Kenneth Hesser

Kenneth W. “Mose” Hesser, 79 of Coppock, Iowa met with the Lord on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the Veteran’s Medical Center in Iowa City.

Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 AM Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Cottonwood United Methodist Church with Pastor Linda Renkin officiating. Military Honor will follow. Burial will be at a later date at the Brighton Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Wednesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 PM. Memorials may be designated for the Wayland Rescue Squad or the V A Medical Center.

Mose was born Feburary 17, 1931 in Peoria, IL the son of Glenn and Lillian (Imhoff) Hesser. He served in the United States Military in the Marines from 1951 thru 1953 during the Korean War.

He worked for Richards Construction oiling streets for different communities, and then went to work for Glenn McCoy Jr. on the farm before becoming a plumber for McCoys Plumbing and Heating in Olds, IA. He retired in 1986 when he became disabled with Rheumatoid Arthritis. He served on the Town Council in Coppock for 25 years before retiring in 2007. He served as commander of the Wayland American Legion and was a member for 56 years. He was also a member of the La Societies Des 40 Hommes ET 8 Chevaux for 35 years.

He was united in marriage to Beatrice Gillespie on December 27, 1953 at the Cottonwood United Methodist Church. He enjoyed collecting stamps, fishing, mushrooming and going to Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball games. He very much enjoyed being at his cabin and with his family.

Mose is survived by his wife Bea of Coppock; two sons, Terry of Coppock, Bruce of Wayland, one daughter Janice (Rob) Schultz of De Forest, Wisconsin, two sisters, Betty Ricks and Bertha Hill both of Coppock, a sister in law, Alice Hesser of Washington, nine grandchildren; Landon Hesser, Logan Hesser, Tara Hesser, Amy Hesser, Holly Hesser, Andrew Hesser, Zachary Schultz, Erika Schultz, and Lynnee Schutlz, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, Gerald “Slim” Hesser, Richard Hesser and James Hesser and two sisters, Catherine and Grace Ann.
