A celebration of life for Kenneth "Kenny" J. Duwa, 50 of Kalona will be held Friday, April 29, 2011, at 10:00AM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond with Father Rich Adam officiating.  Burial will follow at the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in rural Richmond.  Visitation will be held Thursday, April 28 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona with a rosary at 7:30PM.  A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County.  Kenny Duwa died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at his home in Kalona following a battle with cancer.

Kenneth John Duwa was born January 18, 1961 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Wayne and Virginia (Hasty) Duwa.  He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1979.  He attended vocational training in pipe fitting and also graduated from the Police Academy.  He was employed as a correctional officer at the University of Iowa and later as a police officer in Brooklyn, Iowa.  Kenny also worked as a correctional officer at the Oakdale Correctional Facility in Coralville.  Later he was employed at the DOT in North Liberty. Kenny was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Riverside VFW.  He spent many years playing the guitar and singing for various bands.  He enjoyed trapping foxes, fishing, hunting and mushroom hunting.

Survivors include his daughter, Heather (Brad) Haman of Riverside, son, Mitchell Duwa of West Branch, two grandchildren, Blake and Auna Haman, special friend, Loree Parmer of Cedar Rapids, a twin sister, Kate Duwa of Kalona, brother, Tom (Peg) Duwa of Kalona, three nephews, Jared and Tyler Griffith and Ryan Duwa, and one niece, Kylee Duwa.

Preceding Kenny in death were his parents, one sister, Linda and one brother, James.
