Keith Gardner

Keith LeRoy Gardner, 80 of Wayland, died Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Washington County Hospital. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Wayland. Memorial contributions can be given for the grandchildren’s education. Beatty Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Keith was born December 30, 1938 in Burlington, Iowa the son of Charles Arthur and Dorothy Mildred (Bloom) Gardner. He attended Burlington High School and was united in marriage to Dorothy L. Roth December 18, 1965 in Burlington. He served proudly in the US Army 9th Infantry Division. Keith was employed with Murry Iron Works for 27 years in Burlington, moved to Florida following retirement and enjoyed being a caddie for the PGA tours. The couple returned to Burlington in 1990 and later moved to Wayland in 2018. Keith was a member of the New Life Church in Burlington and enjoyed golf, teaching golf, watching NASCAR and playing computer games.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Wayland, son Don Gardner and wife Emily of Wayland, sister Karen Martin of Burlington and three grandchildren: Caleb, Shelby and Brandon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughters Victoria and Donna, brother-in-law Tom Martin and nephew Kevin Martin.
