Kathryn A. Thoma, 87 of Wayland, was called to her eternal home Saturday morning, October 16, 2004 at the Washington County Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at the St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Rev. Fr. Ed O’ Melia officiating. Burial will be in the North Hill Cemetery, near Wayland. Visitation will begin 12:00 Noon Monday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 in the evening. A rosary will be at 4:30 P.M. and a prayer service will be 8:00 P.M. Monday evening at the Funeral Home. Memorials in the name of Kathryn A. Thoma may be designated to the St. James Catholic Church and American Cancer Society.
Kathryn was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Schreck) Wolf, being born September 9, 1917 at Tipton, Missouri.
On August 29, 1943 she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Thoma. in Kansas City, Missouri.
Kathryn owned and cooperated the South Side Café in Wayland for 21 years. She also cooked at the WACO Schools for 13 years before she retired. She enjoyed spending time with family. Kathryn was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends.
Survivors include children Linda Groff of Wayland, Pat Hession and husband Charles of Iowa City; three grandchildren Lisa Groff, Michael Groff and wife Robyn, and Kathleen Hession all from Iowa City; one brother Stanley Wolf and wife Irene, and sister-in-law Bea Wolf all of Tipton, MO..
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, January 24, 1985, son Bill, son-in-law Ken, two brothers Raymond (Doc) Wolf and Lester Wolf, two sisters Noreen Sutherland, and Geneva Hartman.
