Kathryn Ellen Gugel, 76 of Washington, died Thursday, August 21, 2008 at her home following a brief battle with cancer.
Funeral Services have been set for 1:30 PM Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Herb Yoder and Pastor Grant Nebel officiating. Burial will be in the Sugar Creek Mennonite Cemetery near Wayland. Visitation will begin at Noon Friday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 PM in the evening. Memorials in the name of Kathryn Ellen Gugel may be designated to Hospice of Washington County or the Sugar Creek Mennonite Cemetery.
Kathryn was born March 28, 1932 in Wayland, Iowa the daughter of Seth and Florence (Krabill) Roth. She graduated from Wayland High School in 1950 and was united in marriage to Ezra Clifford Gugel on December 28, 1952 at Bethel Mennonite Church.
She was a member of the Washington Mennonite Church and was dedicated to raising her family. She enjoyed photography, vegetable gardening, music and playing the autoharp, harmonica and accordion.
Survivors include her husband Ezra of Washington, four children Cynthia Friedt and husband Larry of Worland, WY, John Gugel of Alta, IA, Larry Gugel and wife Kathy of Wayland and Carol Elliott and husband Mark of San Diego, CA; sister, Darlene Roth and husband Willis of Grand Island, NE.; eight grandchildren, Stephen, David, Amanda, Abbe, Alexis, Olivia, Alaina and Ian; two great-grandchildren Zachary and Abigail.
Preceding her in death were her parents, seven brothers Gilbert, Everett, Marvin, Eldon, Bob, Gene and infant James and sister Grace.
