A celebration of life for Katelyn “Katie” V. Miranda, 18, of Palo, Iowa, will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Washington Mennonite Church in Washington with Pastors Amanda Bleichty and Tim Detweiler officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, February 15, 2019 from 4 – 7 PM at the church. A general memorial fund has been established. Katie Miranda died as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident on Monday, February 11, 2019. The Beatty Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Katelyn Valerie Miranda was born August 2, 2000 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Rafael Miranda and Kristy Marie Ryza. She graduated from Washington High School in 2018. Katie was a member of Washington Mennonite Church where she was active in the youth group. She loved driving around with her friends, riding the 4-wheeler, going out for coffee and to eat and adored her animals, including two cats: Wiggles and Zoe, two dogs: Ella and Brutus and a bearded dragon Phillip.
Survivors include her mother Kristy Ryza (Mitch Leeper) of Palo, father Rafael Miranda of Washington, siblings Josh, Emily and Rafael Miranda, Jr., paternal grandmother Catalina Vazquez of Washington, paternal grandfather Cresencio Miranda of Washington, uncle Sergio Miranda of Columbus Jct, maternal grandmother Melody Busch of Washington, maternal grandfather Joseph Ryza, Jr. of Springfield, IL, and maternal great grandmother Patricia Busch of Chicago, IL.
Preceding Katie in death were her maternal grandparents Joseph Ryza, Sr, and Rosemary Ryza, maternal great grandfather Michael Busch and her beloved dog Bella.
