Judith Horesowsky

A graveside service for Judith Ann “Judy” Horesowsky, 74, will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Richmond, with Father Bill Roush officiating. A memorial fund has been established for Last Hope Animal Rescue. Judy Horesowsky died Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City. The Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Judy Horesowsky was born January 15, 1945, in Richmond, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Josephine “Jo” (Lyon) Horesowsky. She graduated from Mid-Prairie High School and worked at Mercy Hospital for 33 years, where she prepped patients and assisted with surgery. Judy loved animals and spent many years caring for animals, including her dachsunds. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Judy was a caregiver who loved to socialize. She had a special relationship with her sister Jane, who passed away in January.

Survivors include her brother-in-law Ken Stoner of Hiawatha, and his family: Kevin Stoner, Susan (Jerry) Nelson, Tracy (Linda) Stoner, Collin, Madison, Brody, Natasha, Taylin and Brynn, and her sister-in-law Joanne Horesowsky and her family: Lori (Jay) Schrock, Jeff (Amy) Horesowsky, Pat (Joan) Horesowsky, Lisa (Rob) Stika and their children.

Preceding Judy in death were her parents, her sister Jane Stoner and her brother Richard Horesowsky, Jr.

The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Judy, and to Father Bill Roush and Deacon James Flattery for their kindness and support.  They also appreciated the friendship that Enos Bender and Mary Martin had with Judy and the many ways they helped her in the past few years.
