Joyce Horsey

A celebration of life for Joyce L. Horsey, 79 of Washington will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Washington United Methodist Church in Washington, Iowa, with Pastor Jim Stiles officiating, burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.  Visitation will be held Monday, June 10 from noon until 6PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington where the family will greet friends from 4-6 PM.
A memorial fund has been established for the Ryan Horsey College Fund.  Joyce Horsey died Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Joyce Lee Rittenhouse Horsey was born January 10, 1934 in Keokuk, Iowa the daughter of Robert and Floyd (Adams) Rittenhouse. She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1952, from the Iowa State Teacher's College in 1955 and from the University of Northern Iowa in 1963.  Joyce was united in marriage to David J. Horsey on June 14, 1964 at the Christian Church in Keokuk, Iowa.  She taught kindergarten through 6th grade in several schools through the years including; Williamsburg, Erskin in Cedar Rapids and in the Washington School District for 35 years.  Joyce was a member of the Washington United Methodist Church and the Chilcote Questers.  She enjoyed history, collecting Fenton glass and teapots and spending time with her grandson.

Survivors include her husband David of Washington, two sons; Kyle Horsey of Washington, Iowa, Guy and wife Andrea Horsey of Cedar Falls, Iowa, one grandson; Ryan Horsey, two step granddaughters; Meredith and Hannah Roethler, and a mother in law; Thelma Horsey of Washington, Iowa.
