John “Jack” E. Rush, 69 of Keota died Sunday, March 05, 2006 at the Washington County Hospital following declining health.
Funeral Services have been set for 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Richard Boyd officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Wednesday at the Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6-8:00 in the evening. A general memorial has been established in the name of John Rush.
John was born October 2, 1936 in Marengo, Iowa the son of Nancy (Bruhn) Rush and Raymond Rush. As a young man, he graduated from Marengo High School and pursued his education at the University of Iowa where he met Karen Voge, his wife of fourteen years and mother of their children. Trained as an educational psychologist, Jack’s last job was working for the Prairie View Cooperative in Northeast Montana as a school psychologist. He spent the last twenty-five years with his special friend Marj Koehler. The two shared a love of the outdoors and travel, and had many happy years together. Jack had many skills consisting of gunsmithing, hunting, fishing, guitar playing, writing and story telling.
He is survived by his special friend Marjie Koehler of Keota; six daughters Penny Scholl and husband Jeff of St. Louis, MO, Jennifer Rush-Tucker and husband Michael of Bakersfield, CA, Vicki Siegel and husband Steve of Ottumwa, Linda Crose and husband Scott of Urbandale, IA, Anne Walker of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Beth Winsor and husband Robert of Round Hill Virginia; adopted daughters, Brandi and Crissy Laubach, Kristen and Andrea Schillinger; sister Macy Blythe and husband Ed of Houston, TX; sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Jim.
