John William Huntley

John W. Huntley, 44, of Kalona, passed from this life on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at his home in Kalona. He has been cremated and a private family gathering will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established to benefit John’s young daughter. Donations can be sent to the Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home at PO Box 81, Kalona, Iowa, 52247.

John William Huntley was born June 16, 1979, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, the son of William and Karen (Schwager) Huntley. He graduated from West High School in Iowa City. John worked as a security guard at several places, most recently at the Riverside Casino. John enjoyed fishing, boating, and being with his daughter.

Survivors include his parents: mother Karen Huntley of Coralville, father Bill (Valerie) Huntley of St. Louis, MO, his daughter Emmalyn Huntley of Brooklyn, IA, his aunt Beth Schwager of Long Grove, IA, and several cousins.

Preceding John in death were his maternal and paternal grandparents, an uncle Doug Schwager and two aunts: Helen Sharff and Barbara (Dick) Eggers.
